7 best tips to keep losing weight during the holidays

#1 – Drink LOTS of water…it helps control your appetite.
#2 – Eat lean protein with every meal.  It helps speed up your metabolism. (And it makes you feel full without increasing your blood sugar levels which regulate insulin in your body).
#3 – Skip the alcohol. I know – this one sucks, but it’s full of empty calories and has ZERO nutritional value. If you do want to indulge – keep it to a minimum and drink a glass or two of water after each cocktail.
#4 – Chew, chew and chew some more. Chew slowly, chew your food up to 20 times before swallowing, and enjoy each and every savory bite.
#5 – Bring your own dish.  Heading out to a holiday party? Bring a healthy dish that you love and it may keep you away from the pigs in the blankets!
#6 – Eat BEFORE you go. Eating a healthy, dense meal before you get to your destination will help you steer clear of the fatty foods.
#7 – PORTION CONTROL! This is EXACTLY what eDiets has been teaching me from day one. Eat small meals throughout the day so you don’t pig out or wait for the BIG meal and then beat yourself up after stuffing yourself full. Eat until you are comfortable and NOT beyond.

    #2 lean protein is good directly before you work out and directly after – and a small amount before you go to bed to enable the suppression of insulin and building of muscles. 5 meals per day with the appropriate protein/carb ratio is ideal.

    Good tips. I might follow them almost exactely. Well the alcohol part will be difficult. I am invited to a x-mas party this Friday and due to the fact that I hardly ever drink alcohol (actually three times a year) I am actually looking forward drinking some gluehwein or beer. Thanks for the tips.
