My journey to fit back into my skinny jeans…

Ready, set…eat!

I’m 35 and just had my first child…a beautiful baby boy names Maxximus.  He will be 4 months old in 3 days and the he is the love of my life!  But, along with a bouncing boy, came lots of bouncing flesh.  Yes, I ‘ate for two‘ for most of my pregnancy, but hey…when you’ve been dieting for most of your life, there’s no better time to indulge then when you’re pregnant!

And speaking of dieting…this is not my first time.  About ten years ago, it seemed as if my body decided that my metabolism would slow to a screeching halt and the pounds started to pack on.  I also had minor surgery which placed me on a few rounds of steroids, which kicked up my weight severely.  Stress from work, poor eating habits, smoking, and a failing marriage were just icing on the cake.  I went from a size 10 to a size 18/20 in what seemed like no time at all!  I was 80 lbs overweight and miserable. I couldn’t even look in the mirror because it physically disgusted me.  At my heaviest, 240 lbs, I became very depressed.  I  flew home to get away from my surroundings, but my weight followed me there too.  The look on my family’s face when they saw me was horrible.  I believe my father’s exact words were, “What happened to my beautiful daughter?”.  It was then that I decided to stop feeling sorry for myself and get my ass in shape!

I stopped smoking, started working out, and counted calories.  And boy did I count calories.  I was so diligent…I kept journals of food, taped up serving sizes to my cabinets and weighed everything that I cooked.  I spent every spare moment counting, weighing, and preparing food when I wasn’t at the gym or at work.  It was very tedious, but it worked and I lost 60 lbs!  I also got rid of all the negative in my life…I moved back home to sunny south Florida, got divorced, and started a new job.  I was very proud of myself, but I wasn’t quite there yet.  One day, I decided to do a search online and review all the different types of diets. After months and months of counting calories I felt that there had to be an easier way to lose the last 20 lbs.

It was then that I discovered meal delivery programs.  The first few I looked at were extremely expensive…you’d have to be incredibly well off to start with these programs…and if you were, then you might as well hire a personal chef & trainer instead!  I continued to look and found frozen plans and plans that consisted of instant meals.  Yuck!  Who wants to eat powdered food all the time?  I wanted real food!  After a few hours of surfing the net, I came across a fresh meal delivery plan called eDiets!  OK, so I finally found some fresh food, not frozen, not powdered, and not expensive.  Yay!  Now comes the tricky part…I don’t like seafood.  No fish, no shrimp…nothing from the sea.  To my surprise…eDiets let you pick out your own meals!  Unbelievable!  Finally…I felt like I found my winner.  So, I signed up and patiently awaited my first round of meals.

One week later, my food arrived and it was fantastic!  Every meal I hand-picked was individually wrapped up and I was ready to go.  No more counting calories or weighing food or running to the store!  AND  it tasted awesome!  Needless to say, the next 22 lbs were the easiest pounds I ever lost and I was even skinnier then I was BEFORE I gained the weight…I was a size 6/8!

To make things even sweeter, I was called by eDiets to do a commercial for the weight I had lost and it was one of the best experiences of my life! With my weight loss came confidence, a new boyfriend (who is now my wonderful husband), a promotion at work, and a sense of , accomplishment.

Well, it’s probably no surprise that when I gained all this weight with my pregnancy, my first thought was, ‘I can’t wait to get back on eDiets!’, and so, here I am.  I am just finishing up my 2nd week on eDiets meal delivery program and I have already lost 10 lbs!  I started at  218 lbs and my goal is end up between 150-155 lbs (size 6/8).

So, this is my journey to fit back into my skinny jeans…ready, set, EAT!

Something tells me I am on the right track! It is wonderful to read a successful story with a real solution( not a miracle one) to a problem that so much poeple are facing.
